Jan finds painting relaxing, as well as engaging and often her subject matter is of places that offer a sense of serenity. Her paintings are a compilation of different places and mood that she has experienced.  Her style reflects representationalism with a touch of romanticism.  Oftentimes, she is told by observers of her work that they feel like they are there, looking out the window at the scene before them.
